Maria says that birds are like cats for those who understand them. I was utterly bewildered to see how the birds actually stayed in her lap as she slowly caressed them, she playfully threw them around with tremendous energy and they surrounded her whenever she called out for them. Meet Maria, the rooster-lady from Maramures, Romania, a wonderful 96 year old character whom I had the pleasure to meet this summer.
